HOW MANY RIEJU ARE LEFT?

There are 917 RIEJU left on the road in the UK (i.e. with valid road tax). There are a further 2,033 RIEJU that are currently SORNED.

The total number of RIEJU was highest during 2024 Q1 (3,030). The number taxed topped out in 2016 Q4 and the total SORNed was at its maximum during 2025 Q1.

Since the total peaked, some 80 (3%) RIEJU have been scrapped or exported.

During 2018 Q3 the number of RIEJU that were off the road (SORN) exceeded the number that were licensed for the first time. This could indicate the owners are reluctant to sell or scrap their car as they view them as a potential future classic.

In the last 10 years the total number of RIEJU has gained 980. Licensed models have fallen by 356 and the SORNed total has increased by 1,336.

The 5 year trend shows an overall increase of 281 RIEJU models. Taxed models have declined by 157 and the SORNed total has increased by 438.

69% of the remaining 2,950 RIEJU in the UK are currently off the road.
