HOW MANY PGO ARE LEFT?

There are 104 PGO left on the road in the UK (i.e. with valid road tax). There are a further 881 PGO that are currently SORNED.

The total number of PGO was highest during 2008 Q3 (1,549). The number taxed topped out in 2008 Q3 and the total SORNed was at its maximum during 2021 Q4.

Since the total peaked, some 564 (36%) PGO have been scrapped or exported.

During 2014 Q4 the number of PGO that were off the road (SORN) exceeded the number that were licensed for the first time. This could indicate the owners are reluctant to sell or scrap their car as they view them as a potential future classic.

In the last 10 years the total number of PGO has fallen by 335. Licensed models have fallen by 510 and the SORNed total has increased by 175.

The 5 year trend shows a total decline of 171 PGO models. Taxed models have declined by 147 and the SORNed total has fallen by 24.

89% of the remaining 985 PGO in the UK are currently off the road.
