HOW MANY OPEL ARE LEFT?

There are 1,835 OPEL left on the road in the UK (i.e. with valid road tax). There are a further 3,862 OPEL that are currently SORNED.

The total number of OPEL was highest during 1994 Q4 (61,874). The number taxed topped out in 1994 Q4 and the total SORNed was at its maximum during 2023 Q4.

Since the total peaked, some 56,177 (91%) OPEL have been scrapped or exported.

During 2019 Q3 the number of OPEL that were off the road (SORN) exceeded the number that were licensed for the first time. This could indicate the owners are reluctant to sell or scrap their car as they view them as a potential future classic.

In the last 10 years the total number of OPEL has fallen by 5,403. Licensed models have fallen by 6,642 and the SORNed total has increased by 1,239.

The 5 year trend shows a total decline of 1,183 OPEL models. Taxed models have declined by 1,203 and the SORNed total has increased by 20.

68% of the remaining 5,697 OPEL in the UK are currently off the road.
