HOW MANY DAF ARE LEFT?

There are 1,350 DAF left on the road in the UK (i.e. with valid road tax). There are a further 1,683 DAF that are currently SORNED.

The total number of DAF was highest during 1994 Q4 (13,898). The number taxed topped out in 1994 Q4 and the total SORNed was at its maximum during 2024 Q2.

Since the total peaked, some 10,865 (78%) DAF have been scrapped or exported.

During 2020 Q1 the number of DAF that were off the road (SORN) exceeded the number that were licensed for the first time. This could indicate the owners are reluctant to sell or scrap their car as they view them as a potential future classic.

In the last 10 years the total number of DAF has fallen by 1,010. Licensed models have fallen by 1,887 and the SORNed total has increased by 877.

The 5 year trend shows a total decline of 675 DAF models. Taxed models have declined by 366 and the SORNed total has fallen by 309.

55% of the remaining 3,033 DAF in the UK are currently off the road.
